Spring Sounds the Call

 #DailyFlowers

The current situation in Europe - Ukraine/Russia - shows how fast things can change in the blink of an eye. The temptation to color this blog in blue & yellow is quite high...  Anyway, governments have their compulsions but as individuals, am sure most contributors & readers of this blog are firmly on the side of Ukraine. After-all, aggression is not very people friendly, nor is being invaded. The old lady exhorting Russian soldiers to carry sunflower seeds in their pockets is evocative & tragic at once. Spring is in full flow. And spring means the yellows/oranges are having fun, peach trees are laden with blooms...

So, be it... spring sounds the call
Laden with blooms stand peach trees tall
Yellows oranges interspersed with green
Pinks, purples, whites too enliven the scene
From distant lands too come flowers galore
Brilliants whites/yellows from Jordan up the score
Along with red-pinks comes the lemon flower
Fruit's tart but sweetness it does shower

Shalini to Allahabad recently took a trip
Flowers from the fort & university did get a grip
Memories of days gone by came to the fore
As univ, schools added flowers to adore
The desi gulabs and roses cultured rose as one
In brilliant colors they increased the fun

Along with came some lilies and daisies
They seemed to spice up the otherwise lazies
In colors simple, sparkling, and striking
They were entirely too enticing

An Indian legend talks of Mother of 100s
But here is the Mother of 1000s
A plant strange with blooms in pinks
Flowers that somehow with spring do sync

When early amaltas narrates change of climate stories
And relative home visits bring forth earlier glories
Brighter hues of oranges & yellows do shine
The season they bless and do define

Letters are spun and words are coined
For entertaining descriptors phrases are joined
Singing the glories of blooms that pervade
Nature's magnificence so well displayed
In hues, seen, unseen, bunched and alone
From flowers, known and unknown
Blooming in gay abandon, singing a 1000 cheers
Sending greetings, best wishes to all  & near & dear

Roses & Tulips do Reign!

 #DailyFlowers

Ah, well! Here we are again! Time for another post. Whether it will be long or short, I don't really know, for sometimes flowers dictate their own flow. Things are opening up, restrictions easing off and movement increasing. Which also means that traffic is back on the roads and bottlenecks/wait times are slowly becoming the norm. Truth be told, restless am I; small weekly town-ward trips give me my needed high... but more of that later...

This past week, we have been deluged with flowers, specifically two beauties. Udayji started a trend and have to say, more or less carried it himself; then Shalini jumped in with another one and the prolific contributor that he is Udayji added on.

One fine day, Udayji claimed for the roses
Churned them out he did in various poses
Vee and Vivek added their beauties divine
And newer frames had to be designed
Whites, pinks,  yellows, crimsons,
All did merrily share their individual opinions

As if the roses brigade wasn't enough
Shalini brought in more enchanting stuff
Visiting Delhi's Tulip-laden roundabouts
She became the blog's camera-totting lookout
Udayji wasn't about to be left out
Some more Tulip pix did he route
Shashi and Vivek joined the game
Other flowers also wanted their share of the fame
Amaryllis, California Poppy and more gems
Ria, Shantha, and Dreamer with bloom-loaded stems

Left over are still flowers more,
But Tulips and Roses deserve their own score
The others will soon find their way here
But for today, above's the fare!

When Flowers Soothe

 #DailyFlowers

This post is late; apologies for that! Sometimes life intervenes and how. Saturday morning began with a laptop drained of power; for some reason the battery near flat-lined. If that wasn't enough to set the day on its head, the cook threw a tantrum. She's been taking days/evenings off left, right and center without so much as by-your leave. Warned her last month early on and she went missing for 10-days out of the 31.   This month, she's already 3-days not in and Sunday, she decided she didn't want to work anymore, that too on a call. Hence...

Poetry & rhymes took on darker hues
As the blogger stomped her shoes
Tried in vain to get rid of anger, disgust & pain
So that flowers' beauty didn't meet disdain
To that end, the post was delayed
Till better moods prevailed

That hour is now nigh
Flowers will be raised up high
Rhymes will be written in praise
For nature always imparts grace
Some beauties last week did get missed
But this time they begin the list
From Shashi come magnolias dear
From others, some beauties rare

Roses never fail to surprise
With hues brilliant they do rise
From across the country and friends they come
Their intense regalia sounds a drum
Grace, love, peace, beauty they do disperse
Sometimes do confound the defining verse
For what words can be designed
When these majesties are combined

A plethora of glazed reds and pinks do abound
With blazing beauty they do us surround
Across hills, plains, cities they come to shine
These bunches are just so divine
These glowing treasures do loudly declare
Spring is round the corner, so let's be aware

If one were to miss the leaves
Roses in glorious colors one would perceive
Rounded, layered petals do gaily bloom
Lovely Ranunculous in colorful costume

Spring has come to the fore
With a variety of colors to adore
Pansies and hollyhocks must have their day
With others of their ilk they merrily sway

If Spring comes, can yellows be far behind
For the season they are spectacularly designed
But that's not to say other colors don't get to show
Flowers always form a harmonious flow
Seemingly carved out of colored marble
The two greens merrily sparkle
Shalini's Ria is meandering through the Northeast
Sending from there a virtual feast
Shashi, meanwhile looks to ornamental bushes
As more reds, yellows, mandarin oranges make the rushes

Spring's in the Air!

 #DailyFlowers

Ah! Yes! Spring is finally in the air! As days get warmer, the colors of spring make their presence felt, bliss it is to see them. Another week has nearly ended, but have to say early morning today was Brrr! The weatherman had said a low of 15d for Mumbai! In other news, biggie #NYTimes has acquired Twitter's latest craze Wordle; it is free for now, let's see how long it stays that way! But, lovers of Wordle needn't fear, there are plenty of clones around, ones even more challenging than Wordle! There's Absurdle! And many more! Of course, reception to the game and scores being posted onto the timeline have got both reactions, positive and negative! But isn't that true of everything in life? Positives and negatives can always be found, the trick is to achieve a harmonious balance between the two, much like flowers/seasons do...

Spring's harbinger begins its dance
Wherever you look yellows do prance
Basant has dawned yet again
Warmer days, brighter colors shall reign
Monica, Shantha, Udayji & the blogger in this frame
Varied hues invariably cheer proclaim

Udayji's flowering glories
Lend themselves to new stories
The variety that is displayed
Reds, pinks, what beauty portrayed

This post is going to be a little long
A promise made to Hina must receive its song
Gardens near home present an enchanting scene
Adding grace, poise and color to daily routines

Some more gems that need their time
And the blogger must write the rimes
Songs that tell of flowers true
Decorating our lives with many a hue

Colors & blooms in full riot on @Hiway's farm
Peach blossoms, roses increase the charm
Vivek's rose plant bloomed full
But its flower, the earth did toward itself pull
Roses, we had last week too
A few somehow didn't make the queue
Such beauty we cannot abandon
Their depth encourages major fandom

@UdayBaxi3 please do give this flower its name
So, that it can achieve its desired fame
From my cousin's garden it doth say
I've come to brighten your day
Some more colors added their play
Forming a wonderful array

Pinks & Purples, so graceful & alive
Beauty in winter does still thrive
Lighting up days dreary and cold
Colors so vibrant and bold

The hibiscus doth enter again
A common flower, but it does reign
Striped, shaded, and a new variant
Blooms ever so radiant

This bird of paradise caught my eye
On a sunny forenoon, made me sigh
Wish for warmer days to come soon
Although that would stop walks at noon
February will soon march into June
In the meanwhile contributions gather steam
As sister's friends join the flowersnatter  team
