 So, things have been moving at a snail's pace, but not the summer heat! That's blazing through. Each year, summer gets hotter and hotter and now we are told a major heatwave can be expected in May across Pakistan and Indian plains. I happened to step out on Sunday for some work, came back absolutely wrung out. Yea, there's the mercy of the air conditioner at night (for sometime at least, all night AC causes me issues with my game knee)... but life goes on. Oh, yes, kinda regretted not having my phone in my hand, when I spotted a black kitten curled up under a shady fern. And from thereon to the Mighty Whitey

 So, we have a tale of Whitey the mighty
Breaker of vases and flower pots
But  by the family still loved lots
And friends who pipe in to say
That family's love, by the way
Is why he is so hoity-toity
Now the rhyme's been made
Between them Shalini & Vivek laid
Tales of Whitey with blooms
Both verily disrupt the gloom
Also, wine tasting  did Vivek & his wife go
So, a lily and frangipani joined the show

 There came tulips galore
 Amsterdam and New Jersey upped the score
In hues multiple, row upon row
Alternates of red & white formed a unique flow

A vibrant splash across the green
Fuchsia reigned like a queen
Tibouchina added its purple glory
A lavender unknown and sadabahar built up the story

A blazing red blazed its way
Tall palms did gently sway
Yellows added to the charm
While the Rangoon creeper did gently disarm

Bottlebrush, anemone, New Zealand sunsets did jive
Delicate pinks and dainty yellows did arrive
Together, melodies they did share
Lit up the day/week with stupendous fare

A creeper made its way up the pole
White hyacinths did Shantha's walk control
Flowers did greet Shashi in hotels
Lavender pinks chimed in with their yodels

Delicate bunches ruled the roost
Light blues, red-creams did the frame boost
Gems as usual did Udayji bring
Lovely hues did to the front spring

On the seashore, a beautiful sunset
Along with waves some gossamer skeins were met
Nature's beauty has me astounded
In troubling times, keeps me grounded

Along came a profusion of red & pinks
Flowers  creep through all chinks
Connections that do delight
Emotions they do set alight

Resilient Flowers

Sometimes things come in unbidden and they are the sweeter for that! And, they sometimes tend to cluster together, increasing impact. Such has been the week gone by. Sometimes, surprises spring themselves, at times they seem far away. But, such is life, keeping you on the tenterhooks, now complete, now not! Amidst all this, bursts of color dominate, adding a smile and cheer to the days.

Varied roses in beautiful poses
Bringing forth smiles in many doses
In colors vivid, brilliant
A flower so resilient

From flowering trees, under which to chill
To floating blooms that do merrily spill
Into our lives, bringing forth beauty bright
A combination that lights up the sight
A blushing bud ready to unfurl
But for the now petals tightly curled

Purple, pinks, whites and yellows
In the garden and wild, amazing fellows
In much glee they did dance
Along with the wind they did prance
Inviting our repeated glance
Their beauty holding us in trance

From western lands come tulips fair
Line by line matched up to pair
With pathways, gardens and walks
Merrily do they dance on their slender stalks

Yellows bright do always delight
There's something very soothing about the sight
Gentle reds do with them team
Alongside the greens, a vivid scene

A variety of whites, interspersed with reds & black
Myriad blooms picking up the slack
No season without them is complete
Everyday, new hues us greet

Flowers seeking attention
Increasing our retention
Of their beauties, they sing
Peace and joy they bring
Lilies across highways/gardens were found
Across the country they do abound
In hues gentle and bold
Flowers epitomize the gold

Colors delicate, colors bright
Together they make a charming sight
Flowers never fail to cheer
Everyone far and near, close and dear

Flowery Musings!

Sometimes the weather is so unfriendly that you don't feel like putting fingers to keyboard and it seems like bliss to procrastinate! And, merrily, I would, if it were not for the innumerable flowers awaiting their turn to shine. And therefore, that promise brings me here. But verses and rhymes seemed to have taken a break and the brain refuses to cooperate. 

Yet, the vividness of pink beckons
A tired brain may awake it reckons
Spout some verse that makes sense
That this heat will not render dense
The flowers may soothe all cares away
Pull out all stops, merrily hold sway
Must say the pinks delight
For a tired mind, are a refreshing sight
From Maharashtra's state flower, & lilies galore
Their beauty keep us wanting for more
In joyful abundance do they bloom
Summer's onset and spring's tailing plume

 Tulips, hyacinths, roses were in brought
Sharing of vividness was sought
Some of these on walks were captured
In hues brilliant their gloss enraptures
Some rare, some known, & raindrops on petals
Touching our hearts on so many levels
In their beauty do we rejoice
Nature offers abundant choice

 The mogra, bela & champa adorn summer
So many become their season's drummer
What tales these are that they carry
Let's listen to them and a while tarry
Blooms on pathways, trees, lakes are seen
Presenting quite a colorful scene
Memories of these we are to store
When times get tough & troubles come to shore
Parrots have a meeting, the weaver bird builds its nest
Nature in its myriad forms always aces life's test

Like a bride's sparkling cape
These blooms the tree trunk do drape
Little twinkling stars come home to roost
Giving their host a massive boost
A delicate white-pink adds to their charm
The rubber tree preens like an old fashioned marm

Whitey the majestic was very much missed
The rajnigandha he did not deign to kiss
Shalini did manage to make him pose
But he did look down his nose
Gentle phlox did in blend
With blooms that Anjali from the hills did send
Adeniums produced variegated flowers
And striped blooms increased powers

Summer Beckons

 It is true! Summer beckons, in fact it is already here! Strange isn't it! Just the other day we were celebrating the advent of Spring! And here's summer, with soaring temperature, burning/blistering winds, heated earth, dust storms and what not. But, one part of nature hasn't caught up as yet with summer and for that we in India are grateful! Flowers in vivid colors still bloom. 

We begin with lilies
Graceful lines, but not frilly
Blooming in gay abandon
Colors planned and random
Across homes, gardens they frolic
For their lovers an unending topic

Alongside lilies, bloom flowers on various trees
It's as if someone held up a camera and said please
Light pinks, lighter whites do dance
Amidst them a brilliant crimson does prance
Hues of gold, whites, dark pinks further enhance
All together driving us into a trance

Flowers, flowers all the way
In varied hues in they sway
Delicate and bold
Also in shades of gold
Blues tinged with yellow
Pinks smiling and mellow
Teamed with vivid greens
They present quite the scene

The colors parade doesn't end
To beauty it does itself fully lend
Shantha & Shalini do beauties present
They in vividness their place cement

Nature is reveling in its seasons
For blooming it has a million reasons
Full well those reasons suit us too
We've always loved flowers, whether many or few

A trip into the hills did Shalini take
Frame upon beautiful frame did she make
Mountains, blooms, birds did she bring
Along with Shashi & Vivek made our hearts sing
